Blackspot is an award-winning, full-service creative agency operating across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and the UK. We manage social media accounts, content production, brand strategy, and website designs for premium clients, and we are building our own suite of SaaS products (most recently, an employee onboarding platform live in production). We don't just execute; we architect growth. We built our own CRM. We own our tech stack. We measure everything.
About the role
We are looking for someone who can do the same internally, for our own brand.
You own the performance of Blackspot's social media presence and internal marketing outcomes. Not the posting. Not the scheduling. The *outcomes.*
You will:
• Manage Blackspot's UK brand social media (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram & LinkedIn) as the strategic lead, not the content executor. You brief the team, you critique the output, you know what works and why.
• Oversee marketing of our SaaS products (FirstDay and others in development): positioning, messaging, launch strategy, growth tracking. (Someone else will manage the social media accounts; you supervise)
• Lead and develop our Marketing team, currently social media managers, videographers, designers. They answer to you. You make them better.
• Supervise 1 Social Media Marketing Intern handling SA and Founder account management, giving them direction, teaching them how to spot trends, coaching them to think strategically.
• Identify and exploit trends before they are mainstream. If you see something working on a platform, new format, emerging creator, changing algorithm, you understand *why* it works and how to apply it to our brand.
• Tell the difference between a good post and a forgettable one. Not based on feeling. Based on strategy, design principles, audience psychology, platform mechanics.
• Report upward monthly on marketing performance tied to actual business outcomes
• Partner with product, sales, and leadership to ensure marketing is pulling its weight in driving company growth, not just existing.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Set quarterly marketing objectives tied to company revenue and product launch targets
• Develop and execute the annual marketing strategy for Blackspot (brand, SaaS products, thought leadership)
• Research competitors and market trends obsessively, bring insights to leadership monthly
• Identify new platforms, formats, or channels before the rest of the industry notices them
Brand & Content Ownership
• Manage Blackspot's social media strategy (voice, tone, posting cadence, content pillars, platform mix)
• Brief the creative team on brand assets, campaign themes, and content direction
• Quality-check all brand content before publication; this is non-negotiable
• Build a content calendar that's both strategic and responsive to real-time trends
• Improve brand consistency across all touch points (social, website, case studies, pitch materials)
SaaS Product Marketing
• Develop go-to-market strategy for other product releases (with an intern to assist)
• Create product-specific messaging, positioning, and audience targeting
• Coordinate product launch campaigns (social, email, webinar, events)
• Track product marketing KPIs (signups, trial conversions, user feedback loops)
Team Leadership & Development
• Manage, mentor, and develop the Marketing team
• Set clear expectations, deadlines, and quality standards
• Provide weekly direction and feedback; conduct monthly 1-on-1s
• Coach your Social Media Intern on trend analysis, content critique, and strategic thinking; this is mentorship, not micromanagement
• Support hiring and onboarding of additional marketing staff as the company scales
Performance & Reporting
• Build and deliver monthly marketing performance reports to leadership
• Present quarterly strategy reviews with wins, learnings, and recommended pivots
• Track KPIs, social growth rate, engagement rate, lead attribution, brand awareness li` etc.
• Use Blackspot's CRM and analytics tools to measure impact; you should be comfortable with data
Relationship & Revenue Support
• Partner with sales and business development to create pitch materials, case studies, and portfolio updates
• Support client pitches with data, results, and strategic insights
• Maintain Blackspot's thought leadership (LinkedIn, speaking opportunities, industry engagement)
• Be the voice of the brand internally and externally
Requirements
• 4+ years in marketing management
• Proven track record building and managing social media accounts (personal, brand, or product) with measurable growth and engagement
• Experience with content strategy and trend analysis; you don't just follow trends, you understand *why* they work
• Comfort with data and analytics; you make decisions based on metrics, not gut feel
• Portfolio of work showing social media accounts you've grown, campaigns you've led, or content you've strategically directed
• SaaS or B2B marketing experience (strongly preferred); you understand how to position software products and move prospects through a funnel
Core Competencies
• Strategic Thinking - You think in terms of business outcomes, not content volume. You know how social media fits into a broader growth strategy.
• Trend Intelligence - You're on TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook regularly. You see patterns. You understand platform mechanics. You can spot an emerging format months before it's obvious.
• Content Judgment-You can critique a design, a caption, a video concept, and explain *why* it works or doesn't work, grounded in psychology, design, and platform best practices.
• Leadership - You develop people. You set standards and hold them. You inspire through example and clarity.
• Accountability - You own outcomes. When something fails, you diagnose why and fix it. You don't blame tools or team; you improve systems.
• Communication - You explain strategy clearly, present data compellingly, and give feedback that teaches rather
than deflates.
• Resilience - You thrive in a fast-paced agency environment. You can pivot quickly when strategy shifts or new opportunities emerge.
Nice-to-Have
• Experience with SaaS product launches
• Experience with marketing automation or CRM platforms
• Background in creative production or design (helps you brief and critique effectively)
Benefits
• Autonomy: You own the strategy and results. You're not a coordinator; you're a strategist.
• Growth Opportunity: We're expanding new products, new markets, new team members. This role scales with the company.
• Tools & Budget: Access to design, video production, analytics tools. We invest in what works.
• Learning: You'll work with award-winning creatives and builders. You'll see behind the curtain of both agency and SaaS work.
• Culture: Remote, collaborative, performance-driven. We hire smart, we hold each other accountable, and we celebrate wins.
